Are Polliwogs any good for anything? Is there an easy way to tell baby polliwogs from baby catfish?

Usually the pollies have the little beady eyes. The ones here have a green tint to them. The head is really large in proportion to the body. Slimy. They don't get terribly big. I think 4 lbs is about it, correct me if I am wrong. People say they are really good eating. I just can't eat them, they just seem gross to me. By the way, those that don't get our southern talk, :Dwe aren't referring to frogs. We are referring to bullheads. I know the talk.

Some of these here have a green tint, but some also have a gold tint. Both have the little beady eyes. How can anybody eat them? That slim is gross, so they must taste terrible.

We actually tried once as everyone says they are good. After cooking them, I just couldn't eat them. Dennis and the grandkids did and said they were good. I didn't even take a bite. So now, if we catch them, we just throw them back.

There used ta be this old feller from town that would come out to a water hole near the road bout every week and catch enough for a mess and take home for him and his wife to eat. Growin up, we'd eat em as the creeks were full of em. Fun for kids to catch cept they'd swaller the hooks perty bad. The bullheads, not the kids. ;D Here, if ya catch a two pounder, ya got a bigun. Them and some big sunfish and taters and ya hadda good meal. We call sunfish, perch here. Even tho thats not what the conservation dept says they are. I still prefer a good big green perch over crappie any day.
