Well, how did everyone survive the big freeze. Looks like Dave got out in it. Tentfire, stay home and warm. It was and is nuts here. Monday night, we had thunderstorms: thunder, lightening, rain and Hail. Then the ice hit. Had about 5 inches snow. A LOT of ice. I did drive to work. Was very nervous, but made it. It got worse during the day so we closed at noon. Driving home was horrible. I did good though. I put it in Drive 2 all the way home. Several times, the car would slide sideways. I had a death grip on the steering wheel. When it would slide sideways, I'd loosen my grip and let it slide, and slowly correct it. I was so proud of how well I handled it. Couldn't decide whether to take the car or pickup. The car is all wheel drive, so thought it'd be better. I could feel the snow piles hitting the bottom though. It was funny how bumpy the ride was. Hitting chunks of ice and all, I bounced all the way home. Didn't have to work today, and they ended up not opening the bakery. Dennis being a teacher, is on his second day off. It's only supposed to get to 16 today with a low of 7 tonight. So I hope they well stay closed tomorrow. I'm gonna do my best to make sure of that. And then, our phone, cable, internet went out Monday night. It is a bundle package, so when one goes, they all go. Well, we finally got all but the internet back on. Finally got the internet this morning.

All is well here despite the wicked weather, lots of Freinds losing power though, I've called family everywhere and everyone is doing fine. My Daughter and the grandkids live in an all Electric house (certainly not something I'd ever reccomend) so if she loses power she'll have to load everyone up and come over here right away. I'm guessing the power crews are out there killing themselves to get things going again, but I cannot imagine working in this wind and I work outside in all sorts of weather. I don't envy them one bit. Dave

28 out there now. Wind at about 40 to 50 mph. Dave got it more than what I did. A few flurries blowing around. Calling for snow tonight.. Glad that you made it through Dave..And that you made the round trip home safely Dale. Have the net on hand to scoop up Buzzy and Hilly in case the wind is blowing them this way

All the school's canceled again tomorrow. I called my boss to see what he thought. He said he'd let me know. The news said the roads are a pure sheet of ice. I called him back and said I am not going to come in and I am not gonna make my opener come in as she walks to work. He said he guesses we can close tomorrow too. We made very little money on Tuesday when the roads where bad. Pointless to be open with no business, won't even meet payroll. Our mall even closed today. A lot of places closed, we are in a pretty much shut down here. Not supposed to get above freezing until maybe Friday, but more snow Friday. I MAY attempt going in on Friday, we will see.

Stick to your guns on not going in to work..Not right for companies to put their employees in harms way with the weather the way it is.

Well, we ventured out into the frozen tundra today. Store manager was having all kinds of heck figuring out our cake orders and such. People needed to be called to be told we couldnt fill their orders. He kept calling all confused. So Dennis said he'd drive me in (he really needed to get out of the house ) So we went in, I got customers called. Filled some of tomorrow's orders and told the store manager he can come over to the bakery to get those orders if we aren't there tomorrow. Done called off school for Dennis tomorrow, and he wants to drive me if I go in. But then he'd have to drive back home, back to town to pick me up, then back home again. Nope, ain't worth it. But the roads were horrible!!!!!!!!!!! I went into a convient store to get the store manager a cup of coffee (long story). I guy said he had been in the Chicago area for a year, and had never seen anything as bad as this. And some of them drivers are nuts!!!!!!!!!!!! If you pick up any speed at all, you start sliding all over the road. Then you have the idiots that either fly past you, or ride you bumper. ALL traffic is moving about 20 mph except these crazies. I-20 is bottlenecked. Trucks and traffic as far as you can see, just crawling along. Stacked. I should have took some pictures. I also heard that the gas stations are running out of gas because the trucks can't get through. I was smart enough to gas up before this hit. I figured if I ended up in a bar ditch, I wanted to have a full tank of gas to keep the car running to stay warm.

It gets the same way up here when the roads get bad. More so when the kids get out and drive on the roads...Have 3 more storms headed this way for next week..

Well we was snsowed in until 12:28 yesterday afternoon, 15" of friggin snow and my lane runs up between two houses, no way to get out or in until they come and scoop it out. I went out in the mess and dug a path to the car and around it in case we lost power but made it through ok.It's hell livin in town, the farmers have taken out all the fence rows and hedge rows so it just blows until it hits town and has something to stop it.

Everyone around here has pretty much been stuck at home for 3 days. We started melting today, and we had to go to Walmart to pick up some things. OH MY. It was worse than Christmas!!!!!!!!!! Liked to never found a parking spot, even Way out in the boonies. Then the lines wer totally unbelievable. Empty shelve everywhere too. I wanted to just leave, but we really did have to have what we were buying. The line was about a 30 minute wait. I do NOT do long lines.!!!!!!! Had no choice today.

It is the same way here. No hedge rows or the snow fences. It blows till it piles up against the truck or house. Walmart is also crowded here. Am stocked up on cangoods and such which doesn't need to be cooked. Course I do have the generator if needed.
