Well, they keep saying that everything, especially groceries and gas is fixing to go way way up. We went to Sam's and stocked up on a few things today. I am already noticing prices going up. I alway got bread at Walmart for 79 cents. It was $1.09 today. But we've always gone to Sam's about once a week. I am a stocker. I like having plenty of some things so that I don't have to worry about buying it for awhile. Main things we get at Sam's is dog food, trash bags, laundry soap, dish soap, cheese, ziploc bags and a few other things. Got a big coffee, peanut butter and a big bottle of honey today. I've been cooking a bit more with honey lately, so was glad to get a big bottle.

Yep, I read that online today about prices going up. With prices going up and people still losing jobs and/or salary, how they figger we're gonna pay for the increases beats me. It's all a big joke anyway, the oil companies still reporting billions in profits no matter what happens. They said we will see gas here in Calif. at $4/gal + by April at the latest most likely.

Yep!! Prices will keep going up as long as we keep buying at their prices. The gas companies will keep making their profit as well as the stores. Each are saying it is because of the unrest in the Middle East .. the news around here been reporting that gasoline will be at $4.00 a gallon by July and at $5.00 a gallon by Christmas...Reguardless they will still make their high profits from each of us... For me to go fishing at Lake Kirby it will cost me around a thousand dollars for gasoline. Maybe 2/3s of that just to move there. ;D

A couple of thoughts on this, for the last Decade or so, economists have predicted that Gas Prices will be $4 or $5 by april or July, While I don't think it's a large stretch of the imagination that they could get that high, I also fail to believe the constant predictions that have been the same for 10 years and have missed the mark every year. Gas prices were over $6 a gallon everywhere else in the world 20 years ago, and have never gone down. our Government continues to subsidize fuel prices to keep the pump prices in America at a level that will prevent the people from actually taking action. the hillarious part is that they use our tax money to keep us from paying higher gas prices (didn't that all come out of my wallet in the first place?) The major reason food prices are rising is that transportation cost is rising via the price of Deisel fuel. Deisel costs less to make than Gasoline, but the oil companies have figured out the American people don't care what Deisel costs, so they raise deisel prices, then they can keep Gas lower and the American people pay for their gas subsidy when they do their grocery shopping, the sad part is almost no one even thinks about what is happening. The other thing with the oil companies is that they moke a lower profit margin than most companies would ever consider acceptable. the average profit is 4%, yes this equates to billions, but if my wife's store turned a 4% profit even for one month, she'd be looking for a new job, and her managers would find someone else to run the place. how many of you would invest in a company that only promised a 4% return on your money when most reputable companies turn somewhere between 12 and 18% regularly? (Just food for thought) PRices have to go up, and things are going to get tighter for everyone and i wonder some days if things are ever going to loosen up or if the end of ease and luxury in the US is imminent. Either way I'm getting up each day Smiling and having a great day and they cannot tax that or raise the price of it no matter how hard they try. ;D ;D ;D If anyone feels I've turned this into a soapbox, let me know I'll delete or move my post without interfering with the rest of it. I certainly am not out to turn this great thread into something it wasn't meant to be. Dave

What you say is true Dave. The only way it will come to an end is to start at the bottom (some would say top) and kick the politicians in the rear. It starts with the laws and pork they pass. Also at some point, salaries have to stop raising. It's nice to say "I'm worth more", but the logic follows that if your salary is raised because you're worth more, prices on goods raise too. Like a merry-go-round that never quits.

No soapbox there that I see. Profits do have to be made but not at the expense of the citizens of this Great Country...There is more oil on deisel than gasoline. Production cost comes from having to be refined more...We haven't even started talking about the bi-products which are also made from the refinery process...

Nope, I have no prob with your post. I actually welcome it. It's good to talk about things on our minds. Sharing your thoughts and experience is a great thing to do here. (no taxes on that ) I think when I started it, I kinda had a discussion like that in mind.
