At the request of dsmith, I'm posting my favorite way to cook steaks.
Prep for steaks takes about 6 hours:
You will need:
Weber Steak Seasoning (buy at Sams club)
Garlic Powder or minced Garlic
Worchestershire Sauce.
Coat Steaks liberally with weber steak seasoning and garlic powder, stack on top of each other so that seasonings are trapped between the steaks. Put in Ziplock bag and add 1/4 cup Worchestershiresauce for each thre steaks. Remove as much air as possible from the bag and place in refridgerator. turn over bag every hour or so if you remember.
As far as actually grilling, I like to get a good smokesd flavor on my Steaks. Whether you use a charcoal grill or a gas grill, buy yourslf a smoker box at wal-mart and some hickory and mesquite chips. light grill set on low heat or start small charcoal fire and keep it as far from the grilling surface as your grill allows.
Fill smoker box with half hickory, half mesquite place smoker box on fire and place steaks above smoker box. Close the lid and close all vents, allow the steaks to smoke for 7-10 minutes and then turn them over and allow them to smoke for another 7-10 minutes. then raise the fire and cook steaks to desired doneness and serve.
My preferred place to buy decent steaks is also Sam's club, quality steaks are hard to find and expensive, Sams has ribeyes and Sirloins which are great quality and reasonably priced both.
This recipe works for deer, but needs to marinade a little longer to help keep moisture in the meat, Deer is better than beef but dries out quickly on a grill.
