I've been thinking I might do some carp fishing this summer, I haven't fished for much other than cats for a long time. I still remember my favorite dough recipe for carp, but thought I'd throw out a thread to see what anyone else likes to use. We always kept it really simple and it worked really well, I mix 1/3c sugar, 1c flour, ane tablespoon vanilla, peppermint, or anise. and add enough water to make a thick dough out of it. I used to catch a lot of carp on that dough when I was a kid.
Let me know what you favorite carp bait is. Dave

LOL my mixture is the same as your but sometimes I'll add a 1/4 cup of cornmeal to it. I also will use Wheaties and add a little anise or vanilla to it. Carp will give a good fight when hooked.

I was thinking about carp fishing at CJ Brown reservior, I remember cathing a lot of yellow bellies when we'd carp fish with night crawlers. I was thinking with the BWAB we could carp fish and set a night crawler up a few feet and see if I could catch some yellow bellies for Flathead bait. I also have to wonder how cut carp might do for channels, carp is a strong oily fish and ought to be a good attractant.
I have a buddy in missouri who has a recipe for smoked Carp he swears is better than smoked Salmon, UI'm going to try that as well. Dave

LOL must be talking about Flatfish... I've never tried carp for cut bait but should work well as they are oily...You planning on keeping the yellow bellies in a live tank? Will be glad to get moved to the new place where I can set up a bait tank. It will be handy to have...

Yeah, I'll either keep them in a live tank or illegally transplant them into a nearby pond for future capture and use as bait. If you set up a live tank let me know, I can bring some your way if I'm lucky enough to catch them, I also know a good bit about keeping fish in captivity, my number one hobby for years was Aquariums, I've even done some serious article writing on aquarium subjects.

Actually Flatcat wasn't the guy with the Carp recipe, but Flatcat knows him well enough. The channel pictured in my Avitar was caught at this guys private lake, and the big Blue I caught was from one of his docks at LOZ. I have a pretty good network of friends in Mo. And most are good old fashioned country Boys. If I ever leave the great State of Ohio, Mo. Will probaboly be where I go.

If you clean outhouses for a living does that make you the chief Turd herder for your area? I met a guy in Lake city Minnesoto who had buisiness cards that said Lake City Chief Turd Herder. Just curious.
