I've been "stung" by catfish many times. Man, it hurts. I've heard to rub the sting on the belly, and it helps. Haven't really tried it, too busy saying a few choice words when it happens. Doesn't happen as often as it used to, but it still does. Ouch

The main reason that they don't sting so badly is that she has a great great person who takes them from her hook and releases them I usually give her the larger fish which she puts into the baskets for later cleaning. She is a very good fisherperson and I love her very much.

The slime will help with the sting. Main thing is to get the opening cleaned out as soon as possible to prevent infection.. Itry to get it to bleed to help clean it and then use "Baby Wipes" to also clean the wound...A small bottle of Sting ease works well.

Last week end when we's runnin the line, the other two guys got "stung" a few times. I kept tryin to get em to rub their wounds on the fish's belly to see if it actually worked. ;D I never got stung cuz I was throwin the fish in the boat an lettin em deal with em. lol

I usually get stung once a year, and even if rubbing it on a catfish would work, I'm sort of leary of getting it dirty. I usually bleed it out and super glue it shut so it's clean and protected. usually it quits hurting in a few miunutes anyhow. This year I've already been stung once, so that's taken care of I hope.

That super glue does do wonders . I always carry both the small bottle and a tube of it in my cat box.

Duct tape does wonders but i'll stick to the super glue it works faster and eventually falls of duct tape rips the skin off and causes more problems
