The snakes are just horrible where we fish. They are swimming up to the boat and we are shooing them away. Big ones!!!!!!! Swimming around 3 and 4 at a time!!! A guy was out there tube fishing. Asked him if the snakes don't bother him. He said, nah, they don't bite me, I don't bite them. It's creepy as it is, don't think I want to be in an inner tube. But anyways, I decided to get out of the boat to cool off. I turned around after I was in the water, said a choice word, and was back in the boat. Dennis turned around to see what was going on. This HUGE snake had coil up in the water not 3 feet from me. He saw the snake and was like,"oh my" So he gets the oar and chasing him off. Then we look at me and start laughing. I am actually standing up in the back of the boat!!! Bad back and all, and I don't even remeber jumping back in, and here I am standing. As ya'll know, we have a paddle boat. So one foot in in the foot well, and the other foot is up on the seat. Dennis said I looked like Captain Morgan in those commercials Don't tell me this old grandma can't move.

They make a snake-shot in .22 both long rifle and shorts. Some call it bird shot shells. They are ideal for snakes and do not ricochet like a standard round does.

I'm not a fan of being suprised by snakes, but they don't bother me, and I've even been known to handle them when the opportunity exists. Spiders are another story, I carry a gun to shoot spiders with. As a rule snakes will avoid you if you give them time to go the other way. Dave
