i am always amazed that the peas I put n when the snow was flying is my meal in june! I think my best plant the last two years is peas. I put three different kinds in this year and have bee eattin them in salads and stir fry the last two months. My alaskan peas grow 5 feet tall and have lots of peas of every size. The smaller ones are even sweeter. i eat them right out of the shell!===
Gardening can be a challenge if you don't mind work or should I say exercise like I think of it. i can exercise and get payed back two fold! This week I picked a weed hill side and dug off the top 6 inches then strained the rest of the clay and rocky soil while mixing in horse manure and wood chips along with anything else of utricion to plants! I ended up with a 2 foot trench at the bottom of a slight slope. I then put n a dozen tomatoes that were left.++= Two months ago I took a weedy clay area and leveled it off and made two frms about 8 by 8 with 2 by 8's which was some old lumber I had. I placed all types of dead lettuce or organic mateialon the bottom and added 4 inches of compost and mixed soil on top. I strained the top 3 inches of soil with some sand and red dog strained so it would not crust. I planted 6 zuchinni and beets along the boARDER. My zucs are 3 feet high and have 30 yellow zuc on them now. They are the most healthy of everyone I have ever grown! My other bed was carrots and radish. I pulled out the radish and now have a ton of very tall carrot stems to produce great carrots in a month!+++
I always work a area that is the hardest and make a beautiful garden in a rough area that will continue to expabnd my garden area. Lots of free stuff for gardens if you look. Even that old burn pile is great for potash on the garden! Watch that weight disapear when you are working that shovel and strainer and besides its fun and your reward is on the table! Good gardens will also give you plenty of bait for the big fish that loves that juicy red organic grown worm! Try it you will open up a new world in you life of excercise and eatting! i am in great shape because of my garden!
