Lots of rain means lots of weeds. i get alot of used carpet every day and make good use of some of it. I cut it into 1 foot strips by 6 to 10foot long and place in the rows upside down with the back on top between my rows of plants. It work great and allows you to walk between the rows with out getting muddy while keeping weeds down. The carpet with the light back also reflects extra light on the plants while keeping moisture in the soil!

Frank, that is an excellent idea...That would be even better than landscape fabric and would lay in place without the wind blowing it.

Something else I use especially when I am making a raised bed is shingle under the land scape timbers extending 4 inches out eah side of the timber. I then put some mulch on the shingle on the oputside edge and get no grass along the board making it easyn to cut with a mower with no weed eater! I even use shingle aroud some plants to keep weeds out. Anywhere you have weeds put shingle down and it wil kill the weeks quick from the excess heat it developes!

Might not be a bad idea at that. Why didn't you tell this before the weeds took over? Is it too late to do this?

You can put it right over the weeds and it will kill them! Just break off the big stems so the rug can lay flat upside down unless it is a green rug thewn let it up! You can even throw some mulch on the top of the rug to hide it more from sight! Cut it in one foot strips fro the back with a sharp knife its easy! Any used rug will do! People throw them away everywhere!
