5 -10-10 is 5 nitrogen 10-10-10 is 10nitrogen. Urea which is actually dried urine is like 40-0-0 and only contains nitrigen! Chicken Manure especially fresh has a very high nitrogen and will cause potatoes and tomatoes to grow very green and big with not pototoes and small tomatoes! Lettuce is a good example growing near a barn will have very nice leaves but because of the nitrogen t will be bitter. Look around a barn and you will see nice grass but the cows will not eat it because it is bitter and dark green! a balance fertilizer is usually the best! Composted or older manure or worm casings are the best!

The more important part of this discussion is balance. 5-10-10 is 5 Nitrogen, 10 Phosphate, 10 pottassium. Pattasium give the plant good flavor, and good cell structure, Phosphate is essential to strong plant stems and proper growth. Notrogen will cause a lot of fruit and good green plants but without a balance of the other two you will experience the problem listyed above.
Lastly, Plants require calcium in order to be able to absorb nitrogen, and additionally Nitrogen creates acid soil so if you use a high Nitrogen Fertilizer you need extra Calcium and something to balance the pH of the Soil. Lime is Caclium carbonate so applying lime will do both very well and is often necessary if you use a lot of Nitrogen.
