My brother in law gave us a bunch of meat. They had a cow butchered. The beef tastes funny to us. There is nothing wrong with it, and it was recently butchered. We think it's because we are used to store bought beef with all it's preseritives and all. I'm sure this tastes different since it is farm raised and directly to the butcher. Is there anyway to get that "wang" taste out of it?

the taste is because it was probably grass fed where the beef in stores are usually corn fed so just season the heck out of it.

Thanks. That makes sense. I wondered why it tastes so different when it has just recently been butchered. I read to either soak it in salt water or buttermilk.

Salt water and or Buttermilk will help, personally I like grass fed beef, but there is a definite difference. Marinating in Italian dressing works really well too.

thanks Dave. Dennis had said that his brother soaks his in some kind of salad dressing. But he couldn't remember what kind. He was thinking Italian, but wasn't sure. Thanks for clearing that up for Dennis 8-)I think I'll try the Italian.
