I just started catfishing last summer. It seems like everytime I would get a bite they were playing with me. I would pull on my pole as soon as I was getting a bite so my question is should I wait to pull until I know that hes biting my bate or what???

Catfish will play with the bait and hit ight. When they feel the hook they take off and you like will go straight out so I set the hook by pulling fairly hard but keep a tight line! Try not to hide the hook too much in the bait so the hooks catches quick! I run the worm down from its head and leave about half the worm hand down with the edge of the hook showing slightly! I prefer using two garden worms instead of crawlers. Live or dead minnows work great. Shrimp is also good! If you fish wih a tight line from shore handa bell or small piece of bread on the line so you can tell a bite. Fishing with bobber is different and takes pratice and timing!

as long as the water not frozen there's still time for the big one to hit

sometimes the big ones will mouth the bait so it is best to wait and let them nipple on the bait the more you fish the better you will get being patient and deciding when to try to set the hook
