Well, I guess it's our turn for the fishing method. Our's is kinda boring. Just plain and simple. As I've said, we fish in a paddle boat. We are fixing to get a real boat as our method is wearing us out now. But we have had a lot of fun in it. We love to fish the shallows and brush. We can get into spots that the big boys can't get into.
Our rig is basic. We either use a regular bobber, bwab, or no bobber at all. Always use circle hooks, we really believe in them. Used them a long time, and it is still hard not to set the hook. We always use a 9" or 12" leader. We've had a lot of lines break, and the leaders really do help out, except when you are hung up. 20-30 pound test also. 3/8 to 5/8 sinkers. Mostly use chicken liver. The bait shops aren't any where around the lake we normally fish, and I always have liver on hand. Once in awhile we will use minnows or worms.
Like I said, we usually fish the shallows, occcasionally the deep. Mostly day fish, once in awhile a night.
In the summertime, when it is really hot, I like to stay wet to keep cool. Since we fish the shallows, for the most part, I pull the boat around and park us exactly where we want to be. Yes, that is what I said. Occasionally, Dennis will get out and pull, but mostly me. I'd rather do that then peddle the boat in the heat. When we see snakes, I'll just tell Dennis to keep an eye on it that it doesn't come my way. After alll, the tubers stay in the water with them. If we are in a spot where there are too many snakes, I will stay in the boat then.
I am not one of those prissy gals that doesn't want to get dirty. I bait my own hook, and take care of my own fish. Now if one of us catches a really big one, the other will get the net and help land it. ya'll have seen pictures of me. By the end of the day, I am filthy. But we do have lots of fun. Yes, our fishing methods are kinda odd.
I think that just about covers it. Simple, but kinda strange.
