At age 6 we moved to our own house with a piece of ground 100 by 200. the house was built littly by little during the war around the late 40.s! Our yellow brick home was a little different than most homes in the area with three bedrooms on the main floor that was all concrete. At that time lumber was hard to get so the built the floors with concrete slabs with balloons through the center that were removed after the concrete was cured. We ACTUALLY HAD A BASEMENT BELOW WITH A COAL FURNACE AND WATER HEAT!I was and is still a good heating system! +++ Mydad was into gardening and corn was the main crop. We even had 50 chickens and a few ducks! Atthe time the Rolling Rock brewery was 100 feet away from the house but eventually it built up to be only 25 feet from the house & the smell of hops were always in the air!! I went to catholic school having nuns for teachers. We always sent bread and a chicken to the nuns about 5 blocks away! +++ My dad was a tough guy with hands as hard as rocks from the coke ovens in his early days. he now worked at a Carbide plant several miles away. He walked to work every day and back and never had a car! Neither of my parents drove! I have three brothers and one sister. I am the only one that likes gardening probably because I worked with my dad growing stuff all the time! That is basically where and how I grew up till I was about 19 then went to college for two years and started to install and sale carpet! Lets hear from others to see their years at home!

A very nice post there Bobberguy......Might be something interresting here that you started...Will put a little something up on here myself after work tonight. May even grow into a very good section for each of us to tell a little about ourselves besides how much we enjoy fishing.

Mabe it would be a good Idea to bring up a old post and call it the past post for the week. Since most post were never read by most or even the new members this would bring some interest to the forum! There arer alot of great post from the past that remain not read by most! I even enjoy some of the old post of mine since I forgot what I said at the time and it brings back more memories and subjects to talk about in another post!
