Dennis and I both have a laptop. But I have been wanting a desktop and have been saving up for one. Just before my old desktop went, I bought a really nice monitor for it. Plus, I really baby my laptop as I love it. I have a lot of games on it. I do a lot of computor work for the store and other things. So I wanted the desktop for "business" things. Dennis surprised me today with a new desktop. I was so excited. It is an e machine that Walmart had. It has windows 7 which I thought was cool.
So he went to set it up, and it wouldn't work. He called customer support. It seems that they have to mail us a recovery disc!!!!!!!!!!! It will take about a week. I thought a computor was good to go right out of the box!!!!!!!!!!! That is crazy. Is this normal?

My little understanding of them ,from the kids, Is that you have to "run" the setup programming for it...Should have had a disk in the box. Also it depends on the program you want to run such as Windows,PowerPoint ,Vista, etc....My understanding anyways....

I think it was supposed to be in the box, not sure. The box was factory sealed. I wanted to take it back, but Dennis said to just wait for the disc to come.

Could have been left out from the factory!! Could have been a re-conditioned one also...I enjoy my desk top more than Margie's lap top...You going to run Vista..Be sure to download Adobie Reader on it also.....

That's why I wanted to take it back and get a different one. But he said they are sending the disc. I hate vista and this one has windows 7. I have vista on my laptop, so I guess I'll run both. Am really curious about 7. Xp was the best

Yep, I hate Vista, too! I have it on this one ..... it came that way. Took a LONG time to get the kinks out of it, and I think it still has a lot. My laptop had come with XP, and a 'coupon' to get the Vista when it came out. I filled it out and got the Vista for it, but I never installed it. I decided to leave it XP, then when this one won't do something, I drag that one back out ..... old faithful.
