One of my favorite to put in early is sugar snap peas. The sugar snap get 4 feet high and will produce for 2 months. You can eat the pod when it is small in salads or cooked with butter. as they get bigger you can eat the peas inside! Thy are fun for kids to grow since they climb! Don't buy the early peas since they have small vines and don't produce over a long period like the alaskan sugar snap!

One of the very very few advantages to living in the ig city is that we don't get quite as cold at the outlying areas. No frost here, tonight will be the coldes night this week and my fingers are crossed. Will be planting beans and corn today if the ground is soft enough to till. Dave

You're ahead of me with the squash, and okra. I had hoped to have more squash and okra planted by now, but haven't made it to the squash (except for a patch of white scallop squash that isn't up yet) and it has been a little too cold for the okra yet. It was really warm, even hot at times, but it sure has been cold the past two nights. Didn't have to cover anything at least. One thing about the cold, my lettuce and onions are loving it!! They are really outdoing themselves. I had a really nice salad tonight. And the first potatoes I planted are now a couple inches above my knee and blooming. Several of my tomatoes are blooming, too. I have little strawberries on my plants. Planted some pole beans, but need some regular ones in, too. Wish I had planted some peas. I think it is too late for them, now.
