I had a member mention that if we planned to have a fall tourney I should keep $10 of his prize money to apply towards that. So I thought I'd put up a poll to see who is interested in a fall Tourney. I would feel best if MC took over the fall tournament, I only ran the spring one as he was otherwise disposed at the time. I have also had some suggestions about special categories like Jugs, and trotlines from Setthehook, so I thought I'd throw that out there, but I'm not sure how we could make that work fairly for everyone. Let me know your thoughts on a fall tourney and add any suggestions that you might have as well.

Thoughts on the jug fishing and trotlines is that members without a boat are at a disavantage on that type of fishing. Would also hold true with snagging or netting their fish. The same would apply to fish caught from a pay lake..That type of fishing is not considered as sport fishing.

I tend to agree on the jug and trotline topic. But felt it only fair for all members Ideas to be put out there. IT would be really hard to find a way to make a jug and trotline category and be fair to those who don't run jugs and trotlines regularly if at all. Dave

I'm in as always, Dave wouldn't have it otherwise. if there is a jug tourney it should be totally seperate.

I'd go one, since I was that member that suggested he keep ten bucks. And I would also agree that a juggin or trotline contest should be separate. I personally dont trotline cept with other friends on occasion. I do jug once inna great while. However I havent caught anything on jugs, this year. Mite be cause I been fishin from a canoe. I am still waiting to hook a thirty pounder to see where I wind up when it gives out.

would it work if the jug and trotline caught fish where less points per a pond like channels go from the normal 5 points a lbs. to 3.5 points a lbs. just for example.

considering both the size and number of fish we catch on jugs and trotlines, it would have to be a far greater point reduction, I think we'd be better off to just keep things seperate, How about an unnoficial side tourney for jugs Trotlines and pay lakes that allows 10 fish, we could do this sans entry fee and prizes the first time and see how it works out. Just thinking out loud. Dave

Most states limit the number of rods that can be used at one time to 2 or maybe 3 rods from bank or boat...Most juggers set out 10 to 25 or even more jugs at a time...Most trot liners set out a couple of lines with 20 to 25 or more hooks each. It is about the same way with bank lines. It gives those type of fisher people an unfair advantage over the ones that use rod and reels.. Now on the lighter side ;D Ifin a jugger set out only 2 jugs with a max of 2 hooks each OR a liner set out 2 lines with a max of 2 hooks each and had either George W or George H as the witness during the time that they were in the water baited, then I could maybe see where things were equal. As far as those fish caught that way it would work with a lower point value of say 1/10th of a point for each pound and a limit of 5 fish. ;D That would work out equal across the playing field, I think. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If there was enough interest in a contest using lines or jugs only then I do not see a problem doing one. It would have to be equal for all that enter.. BTW, Lining or jugging is not considered as sport fishing but is considered as commercial fishing the same as netting. Nothing wrong with fishing that way though.. I enjoy both ways of fishing myself from time to time..

I think that only fish caught on rod and reel or bamboo pole should count and none out off pay lakes !

There she goes talking about snakes again. If you want to find snakes in the water, all you have to do is take me along and let me put a foot in the water. The snakes will come out of hiding just to make me crawl back into the boat. If the is a fall tournament, please feel free to take $20 from my winnings and enter Dale and myself into it.

Could maybe put a place on here for STH to post about his trotlines and jug fishing. He could also show pics of his catches from lines and jugs...This may get some interrested in fishing those ways to get more interrest in it.

If there is a Fall Tourney , I will donate another Catfish Combo to the First Place Winner ordered from Catfish Connection. I think that Dsmith and Lymi have enjoyed theirs from last year....
