The wind was blowing 15-30 today. We started to not fish as the waves were just too much. But decided to try it. Used some cattails for a windbreak, but weren't catching many. We wanted to cross the lake. Decided to go around the edges in the shallows since the wind was soooo bad. Then decided it would be so much faster to just cut across. NOT smart. We got out there and realized it was a mistake, but it was too late to turn around as the waves were against us doing that. The waves kept washing us out deeper as we were fighting with that trolling motor to get to the shore. Waves washing up over the sides some. It was so scary. We will NEVER do anything like that again. The fact that it kept pushing us out deeper was just nerve racking. I just knew we were gonna flip over or something. I was NEVER so glad to finally get to the shore!!!!!!!! We learned a very important lesson there.

It doesn't take much wind to get the waves up and going. Have been caught out like that myself several times.. Make sure that you guys take the life vests along when ever you go out . Glad to see that you both made it back safe and sound.
