We are getting ready to drain our swimming pool. We had converted it over to salt water. Dennis doesn't want to drain it on the grass, wants to run a hose to the field. He is afraid the salt and chlorine will kill the grass and trees. Does anybody know if that is true?

The salt will not kill out the grass in most cases depending on how much was added to the pool. The cholrine will not harm it much either...Road salt is used here all the time in winter and the grass is back in the spring. Rain and such will dilute futher...Why drain it unless it is the free standing style...

It is an above ground pool. We have a neighbor that winterizes their above ground pool. I just think it's more trouble than it's worth. Plus, we don't know if we want it up next year or not. We got it about 4 years ago, and just put it up every other year. It is so much trouble when it is up. Besides, when we put it up, we were in a hurry and didn't take the time to get the level out. You guessed it. It is uneven. And of course the higher side is on the pump side that needs to be underwater.
