Less snakes

As ya'll all very well know, we have seen huge amounts of snakes in the past. We just didn't see near as many this year. I wonder if the lake level has something to do with it. When the lake was really low, there was so much less brush in the water. With it so, full, there is tons of brush in the water as the lake is up over the banks. It has gone down some, and now we are seeing a few more snakes again. Of course that is gonna change today and tomorrow, as we are due for tons of rain from Hermain. But I wonder why we see so many less this year, and that might make sense.

I would think with less water there would be more water snakes than when full. They breathe air and do not have gills. Good question though.

Yeah, I think that must be the case. At any rate, it is awesome. It has been wonderful to just see 2 or 3 a trip versus 20-30. They would be swimming all around us and hanging in the trees. Have really enjoyed it this year.
ALTHOUGH, once again, Dennis has to stop the daredevil in me. Sunday, I looked up and saw this weird black thing swimming towards the trees. I asked Dennis what it was and we figured a snake had caught a fish, we've seen it many times there. So I was hunting my camera, as I wanted to go take a pic of it. (walking in the water to chase it) He forbid me. I told him I'd been in the water with the snakes many times. He said he didn't care, he wasn't gonna let me go chasing it down just to take a pic. So I missed a great photo opp.
