Seems like there ought to be a use for acorns besides squirrels. For the past few days, it sounds like it is hailing outside. Our house and workshop (aka: dog house ) have metal roofs. The acorns are just pounding the roof and side of house. It's starting to drive me nuts (which isn't a very far drive ) You'd think the dang tree would run out of acorns. It is a huge tree. Seems like such a waste that they are useless.

Can make flour for bread from them. Also the seed inside is good to eat after drying out. Not sure about what part though..Same with the seed from pinecones...Indians used both to make pemican... Bet you didn't know that the green cattail pod is also good to eat..
