Last night, the dogs barked from 10 to midnight. Right at midnight, we heard a high pitched sound and the inside dogs went crazy. Dennis ran out one way with the flashlight, and I ran the other. One of the outside dogs flew past me like a bullet. I shined the light to where he was running. There were two HUGE coyotes running down the road!!!!!!! We jumped in the car to follow them to see if there were more but lost them. What was really strange: When I shone the flashlight on them, they stopped to look at me. With the flashlight shining in there eyes, their eyes glowed. Freaky. We have lived here about 30 years and never had as many critters as we have this year. We can still smell a mild scent of the skunk!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know they come in for winter, but this is crazy. Dennis jokes me because the bakery I work at is called Snowhite. He says the animals are drawn in just like the movie Snowhite.

Yeah, our outside dogs are pretty big. But I said we don't need to let our pugs out unless we watch them. Scares me.

Female Coyotes usually call the male dogs out to her, then pack attacks them. They are smart animals because they don't fight one on one. Size of the dog really doesn't matter since it's a pack fight.
The coyotes are an every night thing here. When my kids were all small, they would hear the coyotes howler and b line to the door. I used to set outside at night to watch my Iris blooms open (they only open up at night). The kids would get so upset with me, because of the coyotes. That I had to stop staying out after dark. Our dogs get on the porch when they hear them. Because they know there's a pack waiting on them.
