Both of our pugs occasionally have "breathing attacks". It's almost like they go into convulsions, their whole body shakes trying to breath. Make snarky kinda noises through their nose. I read online that pugs do tend to get these. Said to cover their nose so they will breath through their mouth. But that doesn't work. It only happens about once a month or less. It really scares me when it happens. We will just sit and pet them and try to keep them calm until the attack stops. Any advice? It usually lasts about 5 minutes.

Otis too?? It must be a pug thing. It is soooo scary. There is nothing you can do. Like I say, we just pet them and try to keep them calm. But it doesn't help. It happened to Hyde this morning.

The vet told us that Pugs have very bad breathing issues because of the way their nose is constructed. Also they have weak respiratory functions....It is normal for them to have these issues from time to time. All you can do is what you are already doing...Also we were told that some medications do help somewhat...like giving them 1 25mg tablet of Benadryl from time to time to control asthma...Hope this information helps you.
