I spent the whole day yesterday making cookies and breads for Christmas. I tasted everything I made as a lot of them were new recipes. So my son-in-law said he loves snickerdoodles. So I tried 2 different recipes. And gave him some. Dennis took some of everything to school today for the teachers. They are always bragging about my cooking saying Dennis should be huge. So I come home today and pop a Snickerdoodle in my mouth. 
i don't know what in the heck happened, but they were AWFUL> 
They tasted like soap. 
I called my daughter and told her to throw them away. I had them in zip loc bags marked 1 and 2. She said, "that would be batch no. 1" They had already tasted them. Oh my, what those teachers are thinking!!!!!!!!!!!! They may never eat my cooking again!!!!!!!!!!!! I can not figure out for the life of me what happened!!!!!!!!!!! I thought maybe I accidentaly put too much baking soda. I don't know, but everybody will remember those snickerdoodles from now on.
