Colored Bath Salts:
1 cup epsom salts 1/4 cup kosher salt or sea salt food coloring fragrance oils (optional)
Mix together epsom salts and kosher salt. Add a few drops of your favorite color and stir well. If you would like your salts scented, add a few drops of fragrance oil. Store in an airtight container - preferably glass. Add 1/4 c under running bath water. Note: you may substitute cornstarch or baking soda for the kosher salt. (BUT, I think the salt works best)

3-2-1 Bath Salts:
3 cups epsom salts 2 cups sea salt 1 cup baking soda
Mix together in a BIG zip lock bag. Add a few drops of fragrance and/or food coloring and knead to saturate the salts. Let sit overnight with one corner open just a little so the mixture can "breathe". Use 1/4 cup per bath.
Put the mixture in a canning jar and decorate the jar with cloth round and raffia or with a ribbon, etc.

I love to make bath salts but I can't use them so, unfortunately, I always forget to make them for other people. They do make a great gift! And I have been shocked at how inexpensive and easy it is to make, yet how much it cost to purchase it already made. Thoroughly working a dribble of Extra Virgin Olive Oil into the mix is really nice, too. And if you want a great Aroma Therapy effect and/or cut down on the allergy risk, use Essential Oils instead of Fragrance Oils. Lavender is especially relaxing. And Rosemary is very uplifting. Nice post, Buzzard! I hadn't thought of putting baking soda in the mix.
