What is a good way to sharpen scissors? ? I am forever buying new scissors cause mine get too dull to cut. I just them in the kitchen. I also have some for cleaning fish. I hate to keep buying more, when I can just sharpen what I have.

I have a pair for paper, one for gardening, one for cooking, a pair for cutting sticky stuff like tape, and a couple pairs for sewing, and lord help the person who uses the wrong one for the wrong task. JoAnn's has a guy come in a couple times of year who sharpens scissors, can get expensive, but I buy good scissors so it's worth it when I need it. But in between I cut up aluminum foil too. Don't know if it's true or not, but someone told me that helps keep em sharp. I know it sounds like I got a lot of scissors, but one thing I learned was that if you use them for just one type of cutting, they stay sharp longer.

I used to be that way. Certain scissors for certain tasks. I still will NOT allow my fabric scissors to be used for anything but cutting fabric. I love to sew, and am very picky about my sewing things. My daughter and her husband just bought a house. They will hopefully be moving in at the end of the week. I told the grandkids, I'd take them to the fabric store and let them pick some fabric for me to make curtains for their rooms. I think they would love having it personalized like that.

I did that with my grandkids when they moved in to their house and yes, they did LOVE it! With the left over material and some plain matching colors, I made some big throw pillows too that they could use on the bed or the floors when they were reading or watching TV. Then for Christmas I made matching throws from fleece (no tie blankets). Nolan had spiderman and Savanna had the Disney Princesses. Was gonna do Savanna's room over again a few years later in peach and pink with new curtains and all, but then I got "fired".

You forgot the pair in the kitchen and the pair for cutting hair. Oh yeah, and the pair in the truck and at the desk and the teeny pair in the tackle box.

How'd you know I gotta pair of scissors in my car too? ?? (use them to trim the flowers to put at the cemetary for my brother.) And I carry a small pair in my purse. Don't have hair scissors, everytime I useta cut my own hair I looked like a badly trimmed poodle. Hey ds! You can use fine sandpaper to cut to help sharpen your scissors too, forgot about that.

I guess I just cheat, I have an electric sharpener and it is a wet stone and sharpens almost anything that cuts, knives, scissors, ax, etc, etc., it came from Sears.

I might have to check that out Papa. As much as I go through scissores, it'd be worth buying.
