Our son and his fiancee stayed at the house while we were gone. We had JUST got to New Mexico, when we get a call from him. He said the dogs were at the window barking. They went to see what they were barking at so hard. There was a snake crawling around on our front porch. 
They said it did NOT have any rattles so they felt it might be a bull snake. While talking to us, it crawled over by the front door. I told them to shut the door and make sure it did NOT come in. It was looking for the cool air. They wanted to know what to do. We told them to get a broom and chase it away. 
Nothing we can do from Nm. Well, it did finally go away. But now I am so nervous to go out the front door. This is the second snake on our porch. I worry that next time it WILL be a rattler. They never did get pics for us. Our porch is really a deck. It is about 3 foot off the ground. It is 10 x 20. You'd think they'd stay on the ground , not on the porch. The wood on it gets really hot in triple digit temps. But this was early in the morning.
