I have a silly question that ya'll may or may not be able to answer. Can you bake on butcher's paper. Would it catch fire? Would it release chemicals into the food? A couple years ago, my boss gave me a ton of "bakers papers" that they used to bake on. It is a little different then butchers paper and not really parchment. It has been wonderful for baking cookies, etc on. I am nearly out. I was looking at a roll of butcher's paper at Sam's. It'd last me a good while. I just don't know if it's safe for cooking. I've tried searching online, but just can't find the answer. I've been so spoiled to using baking sheets, I hate to go back to a plain pan.

It wouldn't catch fire, but I'm not sure it would work for baking. The paper I get from Sames club is platic coated, don't think it is both sides though and I'm not sure how much heat it could take. I know paper and plastic will take far more heat than most folks realise. You'd be suprised, we've put pans of beans with plastic wrap on them in the grill and the plastic holds. dave
