Outboard Brainbox

Still checking craigs list every day for an outboard motor. Saw one this morning: 55 hp Evinrude that needs a "brain box".

OK, I give up. What is a brain box ?

Is this like a computer chip for a car engine ?

I though the smaller outboards were like a lawnmower. Turn on the gas, hit the start and hang on to your hat.

Do not know what year it was but most after about 72 has the computor. Do not know about the 20hp and under ones.Again depending on year 55 hp wasn't rated small.
