Just had some brutal storm blow through, needed the rain but the 90 MPH winds and hail were a bit much. Took the siding off the end of my garage again, guess I get to call the insurance company and file another claim. Haven't looked yet to see if anything else is damaged. Dave

Wow. We had one with 70mph winds a couple weeks ago and that was rough. Dennis said it was hurricane strength. 90 must be scary. Bet your wife was nervous. I used to be terrified of storms, and that is putting it mildly. Now I grab the camera and take pictures. Hope everything else is ok for ya.

Wife was at work, our pizza place didn't lose power, but most of the north end of our Suburb did (140,000 homes out of power) so she got slammed with people coming out to get $5 pizza's since they couldn't cook and nothing else was open. Was a jackpot night.

we had a tornader go through just north and west of here, and more bad storms this morning. trees down all over the place, this morning there were still half a million people out of power in Ohio. the subway sandwish shop in St. Paris Ohio merged with the dollar general store next to it. lots of roofs torn off over that way. Power back on here. Went out yesterday at 4:50pm and came back on this evening at 7:15. Winds recorded at 92mph. Hail about the size of a nickle and very little rain. Tree limbs all over the yard again. There was a large hickory tree down across the road last night when I left for work.Have been saying that it could be 5 to 9 days to restore all the power around here. Glad that my service is off the main line from the sub station just down the road. After having the generator for 4 years and never needing to use it, I put gas in it this morning (first time ever) pulled the cord and it started up the first pull. Used it for the fridge, water pump and the TV. Even was able to run the microwave and a fan . This was all at the same time. ;D Went into town looking for another 5 gal gas can. Nope, nadda ,0 , not a one to be had. Never saw so many greedy people as those at Wally World...A guy there had 6 shopping carts full of bagged ice and 6 people waiting in line to get ice. I stopped and said to him that " don't you think that others would like to have some also ?". This caused a comotion and a mgr came over and listened to me talking to him. Manager said that he had to put them back and that he could buy 1 large and 1 small bag only Boy, did the guy have some things to say to me. ;D I looked at him and said" You feel froggish just jump any time. " Found out that he was going to resale the ice for a profit. Greedy people !!! An elderly lady, which was in line said that there should be more people like me. Thing was, I wasn't going to buy ice and didn't buy any.. Did have to wait about 1/2 hour in line at the gas station to get gas as only 4 in town had power for the pumps...It is good to have the power back on here at the house. Heck of a first day of vacation ! Will pick up the limbs and such tomorrow from the yard..then maybe try and slide back to the creek behind the house. Going to see if I can remember how to get a hook or 2 wet. !!! ;D

Thanks for the offer. I normally do not use ice in my drinks. Room temp is fine ..Do use it from time to time while fishing or camping to keep food safe.
Spent the morning cleaning the yard of broken branches and such. Lost a blue 55 gal barrel from behind the garage. Not around here anywhere. Maybe in the next county. Lots of small branches on the roof that I'll have to get down..

The more I look at the house, the more damage I find, siding destroyed on one end, roof took some damage, one window frame and several shutters damaged, will be a nice chunk of change for some contractor to fix it all. The insurnace adjusters are visiting the houses with sever damage and dangerous living conditions first for obvious reasons, so I probably won't see one until Thursday or Friday, but they are in close contact and have made sure I know how to get in touch with them if I need to. I can certainly understand the priorities with so many folks losing complete roofs or worse. This is the worst Storm I've seen since July 10th, 1980 when a hail storm rolled our front porch roof (metal) up like a big roll of carpet. I remember that one well, Water was flowing down the streets 2 foot deep, and ice balls were floating in our back yard which has never flooded before or since that day. I walked around and collected about 1/3 of a 5 gallon bucket full of night crawlers in the water, and then set the bucket in the barn and left town for a week. Dad was not pleased with the smell at all, but he was kind enough to stay out of the barn until I got home and took care of my bucket full of worms. Dave

Wow. Ya'll are having it rough. That is what Texas weather used to be like. Seems like the bad weather (tornado alley) has shifted ya'll direction. Please stay safe. Weather like that is so dangerous. I am watching the weather channel right this minute. They are talking about the severe storms in Ohio that are taking place right now. Keep us informed. We will worry about ya'll.

been like this my whole life around here, the only reason we aren't considered part of tornado alley is that with the trees and hills, storms are limited in how far they can travel around here. tornado alley they just keep coming and going once they form. they break up around here. Dave
