When I sub, I try really hard to find the positive in the children. The ones that get in the most trouble, I try to figure out what is going on in their lives to make them act out. I have taught every grade. Many classes, I have done several times as the teachers seem to like me being thier sub. I have gotten to know most of the kids at the school by name. And I try really really hard to remember their names as I feel it is important to them to be remember by name. I have come very attached to them. It is a small town school, and there is a lot of drama in some of those kids home lives. But they are really good for the ego. They are always excited to see me, and have lots of hugs for me. They will ask if I am gonna be in their class that day and are disappointed if I say no. But one little girl really touches me and sums it all up. I must not have had her class very much because I really don't recognize her from any class. She is probably somewhere between kindergarden and second grade. But everytime I walk into the cafeteria in the mornings, she will run up to me and ask, "Mrs, Smith, do you remember when you told me that I was beautiful in my red dress?" I honestly don't remember, but I always tell that I do and that I also remember that she was beautiful and still is even without the red dress. It just touches me that it meant so much to her that I told her that

Yes it is good for youngsters to hear things like that..Parents today do not seem to take the time to spend with their kids..

My favorite sub was our school nurse. They hired her as a full time teacher. We got a new school nurse after that. It was nice to know we had two nurses. Oh yes they hired her just in time for her to be my teacher.
