Have even been looking up the best prices for some sort of backup heat. Single digits tomorrow and Wednesday for the low and low 20s for the high. Brrrrrrr

When I was a widdle boy, my Daddy tried really hard to keep the house warm, we had a gas floor furnace that weren't worth a darn at anything but burning your feet and wasting Dad's money. we also burnt wood or coal regularly for many years. on the really cold mornings it wasn't uncommon to have frost on a couple of spots on the bedroom walls and on the inside of every window in our room. We had good blankets and lots of love so it really didn't ever seem like an issue. to this day I sleep better when it is about 40 degrees and I have good blankets. My bed was right next to a window, and it was really awesome because you could make designes in the frost on the glass. ;D ;D ;D

I thought I had the answer when I found a 100lb Warm Morning stove. I filled it with coal and the house became warm. I shut the dampers and sat back to relax. The house kept getting hotter. I discovered that the stove had a crack in its wall that only opened when the stove was hot. There we were with a 100lb pile of coal on fire and no way to stop the fast burn. It was around 0 outside and we had the doors open. We used the stove with small fires the rest of that winter and I bought a new stove for the next.

we had our ups and downs, if that happened today I could weld that stove. most folks would say you can't, but I'm a better welder than most folks. Warm weather in Ohio today, it's a royal slush fest here now, wet muddy, and sloppy anyway you add it up. Dave
