Well, we think we had a little tornado went through last night. In all of my 54 years, that had to be the scariest experience we have been through. First, the storms hit and we knew it'd be a bet strong. Well, I am in the back bedroom, and start hearing the wind. It caught our front door , and Dennis has grabbed it, trying to shut it. He is fighting really hard to get it to shut. I looked out, and everything was white (it was about 9-9:30) . We can see stuff flying around, not rolling, but flying. I actually that of Wizard of Oz. lol We are hearing the whistling and rumbling. Dennis looked at me and said his ears just clogged shut, just as mine did. We got in the walk in closet. Then the front bedroom window blew in. He went running to grab the bedroom door to shut it, as the wind and rain coming in was crazy. He is fighting with that door, and it rips off the hinges!!! Then we loose electricity. Once it settled down some, we looked around, thankful to be ok. The rest of the house was ok. We lost most of a huge tree. Our fence was laid over. Neighbors had a portable building that was just in pieces. This wasn't a self-put together one, it was one purchased and brought to the property. They said they had pieces of wood flying through their house.
Then, when we went to work this morning (had to, they are short handed), they had our main roads blocked at both ends because of downed power poles. We had to take back roads to work.
Funny thing. With no electricity Dennis set his cell phone alarm. So it goes off, and we are getting ready for work with flashlights and candles. I look at my watch and inform Dennis that it is 4:30, not the 5:30 that he thought he had set his alarm for. lol
AND THEN::: When we got home, Dennis put plyboard over the window until we can get it fixed. I was helping him hold it, and it slipped, so he reached down to pick it up at the bottom. And dang near grabbed hold of a snake!!!!! It was a (huge) bull snake. So we catch it, and I am hollering to kill it kill it. He took it and released it in the field.
So then he did some more outside cleanup, and I went inside and picked up glass, and used the shop vac. I'm afraid we will never get all the glass out, even with the shop vac. Dennis wants to file insurance, but I don't want our rates to go up, so don't know if we will or not..........
Here are a couple pics of our tree. Another funny thing. We just bought a big chain saw. We are in the process of cutting dead out of all our drought-ridden trees. You would think it would take one of those trees, but NO, it takes a healthy tree lol
