I use a 6 or 4 bait holder hook most of the time since I fish for crappie , bass and trout alot. I did catch some big channel cats on the size 6 hooks like 26 in to 34 inches! I even caught a 34 inch musky on the size 6hook with a leech! If I would use a largr sun fish for bait I would go with a bigger hook a 1 or 2 ! Circle hooks are nice if you want the fish to hook itself but since I am close to both rods I like regular bait holder hooks. A circle hook is better for cats because once it hooks them they sedom get off! I think circle hooks catch less fish because i takes more time for them to hook their self! Matzuo has a sickle hook that seems to have some advantages in strength and its really sharp and sets the hook quick from what I have seen so far!
